Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can be developed from any incidence or thought which makes one frustrated, angry, or nervous. When one is not able to cope with uncertainties or demands of life. Stress effects less when its duration is less. But prolonged uncertainties and incapability of meeting them create stress. And a person reaches a stage of exhaustion. This prolonged activation of stress causes wears and tear on the body both physically and mentally.
Stress without relief can lead to distress (negative stress reaction). It can disturb the normal functioning of the body leading to physical symptoms such as headaches, blood pressure, hypertension, heart diseases, cancer, sleeplessness, sexual dysfunction, depression, panic attacks, Anxieties and at times suicides too.
People indulge in drugs, alcohol, gambling, tobacco, sex, the internet, shopping to relieve stress. But these may lead to other issues. Instead, every person should try to relieve stress and return the mind and body to a relaxed state otherwise these indulgences may lead a person to get trapped into a vicious circle.
